Timothy A. Longlet Memorial Scholarship

The Midland Firefighter's Youth Foundation has partnered with the Longlet Family to create a scholarship program that provides a financial award to a Michigan resident who is the son or daughter of a firefighter impacted by cancer and is pursuing a college or technical degree.  This scholarship is in memory of Lieutenant Timothy Longlet (ret.) who passed away suddenly after a long and valiant fight with occupational cancer.

 

 

Open from January 1st to April 30th, the MFFYF will be accepting applications.  The MFFYF will award two scholarships of up to $1000 each for a total of $2000.

Requirements
  1. Applicants must have a parent or legal guardian who was an active firefighter who was diagnosed with cancer.

  2. Applicants must be currently enrolled for future classes in a post-secondary education institution (university/college/trade school, etc.) within the State of Michigan and have proof upon application submission.

  3. Applicants must be a resident of Michigan and show proof upon application submission.

  4. Applicants must submit a typed essay pertaining to how cancer has affected their family and way of life.  The essay shall not be less than 500 words.

Essays, a copy of a current transcript, proof of residency and proof of acceptance in a Fire Science or EMS program shall be mailed to:
